ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR : 2021-22

FROM THE SECRETARY DESK……..

I am extremely happy to share with you this summery report of the activities of Women’s Community Management Group for the year 2021-22. The past year was expected to think to proceeding to understand in depth of the essence of development perspectives being persuaded by work, performance, culture & experience of action-learning.

Each year that passes by- makes us more conscious and for our targeted goals & sharpens our articulation replicate our learning’s with the moto of making an Empire Experimentation in pro-people manner. This year even though we have reasons to continue some of the programs of past year as a continuous effort yet incepting some of the new activities have become very essential aspects with a democratic spirit.

In our work we continue to emphasize the importance of contribution from the communities in which we work and the mobilizing of recourses from other institutions such as Govt. of India, Odisha and credit institutions. The sustainability of the community development programs more less depends on such financial self-reliance over and above attitudinal change & support from other viable sources.

With rejuvenated zeal we undertake work every keeping in view our action learning am particularly pleased to note that in spite of many significant challenges. Women’s Community Management Group staff could be able to extend the scope of development projects to people living in different underdeveloped and backward communities.

With a sense of reliance on our commitments and confidence on our development partners we take pride to convey our thanks to our partners for contributing to our efforts & moral inviolability through individual and financial support.

Women’s Community Management Group (WCMG) situated At- Sankarpur, Post-Arikama, Dist.- Khordha has been registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 of XXI bearing the Registration No. 21993/171 of dated 18.12.2004. WCMG is one of the leading State Level Women’s Voluntary organizations of Khordha District. The Organization is affiliated with Neheru Yuva Kendra (NYK) and direct listed with KVIC, Ministry of MSME, Empanelment Training Partner of Dept. of PWD, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, New Delhi and partner NGO with Min. of WCD, Govt. of India, Women’s Community Management Group, Sankarpur, Arikama, Khordha also registered under PwD registration Act & bearing the PwD registration No. 76/WCD of 2005 on dated 14.06.2005 and the Validity is up to 12.06.2025.

  • To save environment, many activities have done like nursery rising, plantation program will provide. To control pollution WCMG arranged some awareness programs among rural/urban people in this year.

The Office of the Organization is located At-Sankarpur, Post- Arikama, Block- Bolagarh, Dist- Khordha with its Branches all over Odisha. There is a Branch office located at one of the tribal areas At- Saintala. In addition to that other branch Offices are located at Titlagarh, Bolangir, Champua Block of Keonjhar District, Bantala Block of Angul District & Bramhagiri, Krushna Prasad Block of Puri District. It is totally non-profitable Organization. The organization is working with its dedicated, punctual and competent experienced Young, Male & Female social workers. Smt. Kiranabala Mahapatra, Secretary has been leading her voluntary and Honorary Staffs properly along with all dedicated workers are committed to the cause of empowering to the poor, minority women with other caste people and marginalized so as to enable them to seek their entitlement. Being a State level woman leading Non-Govt. Organization, Women’s Community Management Group has been working for most down trodden, exploited, vulnerable groups of people, expropriated and under privileged sections of the society (both minority and majority caste people). It is the Indian tradition that is male dominantly or patriarchy family esteem, where there is feeling and voice of women/girl was given on sues, their place is at kitchen, Women’s Community Management Group of Sankarpur, Arikama, Khordha involved with them to empower themselves and reliant to the dominant male. WCMG’s dedicated staffs are now working to aware the women delightfully to reduce/minimize of Sexual Harassment of women at work place.

The Broad objectives of the Women’s Community Management Group, Sankarpur, Arikama, Khordha is community empowerment with special emphasis on Women belong to backward communities. One of them is for development of social and economic conditions of Persons with Disabilities. The organization has planned and developed number of strategies to intervene its aims and objectives.

LEGAL STATUS OF THE ORGANIZATION

  • To ensure easy access to education, health, empowerment and employment Opportunity for the poor to poorest of society

  • To empower the Minority Women, fight against poverty and form unequal share of Women with Men in the society along with create a leadership development on attitude of Minority Women.
  • To make aware to the rural people by organizing awareness programs like rallies, stage shows, training programs in practically for the Minority Women to develop their leadership and managerial skills.
  • To create marketing development of Products made by artisans who are engaged in making of handicraft articles are made of Cane and Bamboo with intervening of new design and technologies.
  • To work for better care, development and rehabilitation for disabled (both physically and mentally retarded) children and set-up home for destitute, old aged, in curable dying handicapped, both Leprosy affected & cured etc.
  • To educate the youths and creating a scenario of self-dependent who are drop outs from school for them undertaken education programs with Basic knowledge in computer course. Then introducing of new type basic education and vocational training for the drop outs.
  • To provide shelter for Disabled Persons through Senior Citizen home.
  • To attend various exhibitions and melas to promote the Bamboo and Cane products, Khadi materials, organic food and vegetables manufacture by Artisans, Disabled Farmers, and Women members of SHGs formed by WCMG.
  • To help the disaster affected people, the WCMG has been distributing dry foods, polythene, Clothes, Dress materials, Candle & etc. at the time of natural disaster situations.
  • To work for development of Khadi and Village industries programs through women and men Spinners, Weavers and Artisans who will be made the products of Clothes of Silk Khadi and Cotton Khadi, Handmade Paper, Appliqué work and other Craft and Embroidery items.
  • To organize Job fairs for PWD successes trainees for employment or self-dependent.
  • To organize capacity building measure training programs for elected women PRI members.
  • To make aware the rural people on “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”.
  • To organize farmer’s training on organic farming and medicinal plant rising.
  • To make aware the women/young girls to protect themself against sexual harassment at work place and other aspects of the society.
  • To conduct fruit and vegetable food processing cluster for PwDs. To create job opportunities for PwDs by arranging workshop and seminars with Govt., Private and Bank representatives.
  • To Strengthen and Rehabilitation of Beggars the Organization arranging awareness programs and Skill Development Training Program on their traditional sector for Self-Employment of beggars. To conduct shelter for beggars and Day Care for them At-Khordha.
  • To provide Health Check-up by Digital instruments for healthcare of Senior Citizens and Destitute widow women
  • To conduct Mobile Medicare Unit for Senior Citizens, PwDs, Elderly Widow and Destitute Children.

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT

SELF HELP GROUP:

The Women’s Community Management Group look after the development of women in society. It organized many awareness programs to mobilize the people for self-dependence, organized them in groups & formed 815 Women’s Self-Help Group in rural areas of Khordha, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Bolangir and Ganjam District of Odisha. The organization trained them to make handicraft items in Bamboo and Cane wood, Khadi & Village Industries materials.



There are 750 Nos. of women Artisan Spinners, Weavers and they have already made themselves self-employed. Women’s Community Management Group provided them training in many types of trades like Entrepreneurship Development Training Program, skill development training, design development training and also getting leadership training every year.

KHADI & VILLAGE INDUSTRIES PROGRAM:

KHADI was the first weapon for independence of India. The father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi believed on “KUTI KHAO KATI PINDHA”. So, the WCMG is working to develop the Economic condition of poor khadi Artisans, to run over the path of Khadi Artisans development the WCMG has been conducting Khadi program at- Routpada, Begunia & Arikama, Bolgarh.

The organization has direct listed and certified by KVIC, Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India where 100 Nos. of Spinners and 100 Nos. of Weavers are engaged under Silk and Cotton Khadi material production. We hope the no. of Spinners and Weavers will increase in near future. The WCMG organized many workshops and Buyer Sellers meet to attract local Businessman. After this achievement stake retailers and small shopkeepers (Ladies Corner, Gift item shop, furniture shop etc.) are purchasing the products and sells in city or urban markets.

By arranging this type of workshops, the businessmen & the Artisans are getting more profit to increase their economic condition. WCMG has been arranging many awareness camps among the purchaser and sellers for their leadership development on marketing source (buyer sellers meeting) in order to get better financial assistance from Bank and other agencies.

SENIOR CITIZEN HOME FOR OLDER & DISABELD PERSON:

Women’s Community Management Group, Sankarpur, Arikama, Khordha has been running Home for Senior Citizens at Arikama, Khordha since 2012 with 50 nos. of Inmates living their day-to-day life comfortably. The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, New Delhi has been sponsoring this Senior Citizens Home from 01.04.2019. The organization believes in taking care of older persons because they are the reservoir knowledge of our future. The Women’s Community Management Group has been providing them basic amenities for living i.e., Food, Clothes, Medicines, recreation for smooth & comfortable living, weekly health checkup by doctor’s team. Simultaneously Physiotherapist is providing therapy to older persons once in two days for two hours in early morning. The WCMG has been providing 24 hours power & water supply, deployed one caretaker to provide services to the Old aged persons. The inside and outside of living room has been surrounded by Clean & Green Environment. The organization also installed 12 nos. of CCTV Cameras for their safety. The Organization has been providing them well occupied home, foods, clothes, health checkup facilities and medicines. The inmates are getting two times food, two times Tiffin / snacks, two-time tea, clothes to wear, blankets to cover their body in winter season, The Organization has deployed a Religion teacher to read and teach Bhagwat Gita & Ramayana two times daily. Each Year the staffs of the Organization and Office bearers celebrate each and every festival round the year with the inmates of both of the Senior Citizens Home, Arikama, Khordha and Bantala , Angul District.

The organization also installed television for recreational purpose of Senior Citizens living in the shelter home. WCMG provided Digital Health Check-up instruments for better care of inmates. To protect inmates from Corona Virus by aware them to wash their hands properly & make sanitized. The organization distributed masks and sanitizers to inmates & staffs to protect from Covid-19 Virus.

Home for Destitute Widow Women:

Women’s Community Management Group, Sankarpur, Arikama, Khordha has been conducting Home for Destitute widow women At-Bantala, Angul since 2017. The Destitute widow women who have attain the age of sixty years and having no Home to stay, not getting two times food daily, the WCMG has been keeping them in the Destitute Widow Women Home located At- Bantala, Angul. WCMG has been providing them well occupied home, foods, clothes, health checkup facilities and medicines. Now there are fifty numbers of Widow Women have been staying comfortably in the Home for Elderly Widow Women conducting by WCMG.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROGRAM FOR PWDs:

The Women’s Community Management Group has been providing skill development training on several trades like Sewing Machine Operator, Asst. Shuttering Carpenter, Hair Stylist and Hair Advisor & Data Entry Operator’s Training Courses for 500 nos. of PwDs of Khordha & Bolangir District of Odisha successfully. Now days the success skill trainees are getting Job/Employment opportunity and some of them has well engaged in several reputed companies. The organization has organized job fair program, work shop, seminars by inviting different company representatives to engage the successful PwD Skill trainees.


Some of the successful candidates also got self employed by starting own business, shop & etc. the organization has been assisting them to get job & make themselves self-dependent. In last year 2021-22 our organization has been selected by the Ministry Of SJE, Govt. of India to conduct Skill Training on Sewing Machine Operator, Asst. Shuttering Carpenter, Hair Stylist and Hair Advisor & Data Entry Operator’s Training, Gardening Training, Mushroom Cultivation Training courses provides to 1000 nos. of PwDs of Puri & Ganjam district of Odisha.

CAPACITY BUILDING MEASURE TRAINING PROGRAM :

Women’s Community Management Group organized capacity building measures and training programs for elected women PRI members in 13 Districts of Odisha. This training program was sponsored by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India in past year. The organization realized that the elected women PRI members are main part of the society to develop the social security as well as financial position of the rural.

REHABILITATION FOR LEPROSY CURED PERSON-VTC & HOME:

Women’s Community Management Group, Sankarpur, Arikama, Khordha has been conducting rehabilitation program for leprosy cured persons At- Santidan Colony, Khordha since 1999-2000. In this program the organization is in continuous effort in conducting vocational training center (VTC) for 55 Nos. of Leprosy cured persons on trades like making of coir, bamboo & cane products in past year.


In coir the PWDs are making coir rope, coir poppet, coir handicraft item, coir made dolls, Bamboo pen, mobile, brush, flower stand, wall hanging, Cane made swing, cane/bamboo chair, and Bamboo arm chair. By selling these products the PWDs are earning a standard amount to maintain their family expenditure.


Now a days there are 265 Nos. of Leprosy Cured Persons are staying in home this financial year. They are getting all the residential facilities approved by Govt. of India with food facilities, medical check-up & other essential commodities to stay in LCP’s home. 55 Nos. of the Leprosy Cured Persons are getting Vocational trainings in several trades At Khordha. It provides free health check-up with referral services, proper sanitation facilities for LCPs in home, safe drinking water, good environmental surroundings.

COUNSELING CENTRE FOR PWD/LCP:

The Organization has the holistic aim in order to make counselling to all the PwDs along with Leprosy Cured persons. For fulfillment of the objective the center has been performing the below activities.

  •  As to legacy it has ensured the quality and standard rehabilitation.
  •  Provision of domicile treatment all over the coverage area of the district through trained staffs.
  •  Provision made for leprosy patients to avail medical facilities by the doctor’s team with latest medical technology.
  •  Detection of persons is going to be affected through survey unit and provision of treatment on door step.
  •  Support service to disabled by providing them in early detection.

The mobile medical team with clinical, surgical instruments with medicines attending the leprosy affected and cured persons in every month interval.

The rehabilitation of leprosy cured persons program conducted by WCMG supported by Ministry of SJ&E, Govt. of India, New Delhi following activities are performed by the organization during this year 2021-22 for LCP.

  • A. Vocational=Vocational trainings=trainings to=to Leprosy=Leprosy Cured=Cured Persons.=Persons.
  • B. A counseling centers.
  • C. Health check-up camp.
  • D. Case treatment and referral services.
  • E. Awareness generation program.
  • F. Home for several disable persons.
  • G. Arrangement of foods, clothes, medicines for persons living in home.

COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION PROGRAMME (CBR) FOR PWD:

The Women’s Community Management Group has been conducting community Based Rehabilitation of PwDs, from 2015 to yet. People thinking the PwDs & older person are the neglected things of society. Some of the older person also is not getting proper care in their illness time & unable to reach at nearest hospital. After thought about this situation upon children, PwDs & other serious patients the WCMG decided to run the program Community Based Rehabilitation for PwDs.

WCMG have been conducting community Based Rehabilitation program from 2014-15 to yet. PHISIOTHERAPY CENTRE FOR PWD: (PERSON WITH DISABILTY):

WCMG have been conducting a physiotherapy centre for intellectual disability persons at – Sankarpur, Arikama, Khordha from 2016-17 to yet. There are 100 disability persons are getting physiotherapy at present by experienced physiotherapist.


The physiotherapist Mr. Priyatosh Mahapatra has been attending thrice a week to their patients at Sankarpur, Arikama & Santidan Leprosy Colony, Khordha. Also, another physiotherapist is coming to make physical exercise of Elderly Women of Senior Citizen’s Home at Bantala, Angul District.


CONCLUSION

WCMG is in continuous effort in expediting the welfare services to be provided to different vulnerable group of people like LCPs, PwDs, Beggars, widows, destitute & Children with special needs. In subsequent to that, the organization is in the track of development of the society to bring change in the lives of poorer to poorest, minorities and marginalized section of people who are ought to get the support/ co-operation. The aim is to bring equilibrium through various attempts of progress and development along with capitalizing them in the mainstream of society. The scope of the Organization is in deliberate with different Govt. organizations and financial institutions in delivering better opportunities for the differently abled children and Old Aged Persons. At last, WCMG Shankarpur, Arikama, hopes the organization/institution will be always help by its dedicated staffs and voluntary women members to the poorest of the poor. Change is a process not takes place at the movement of eye lead but a process of time taking so called gradual with patience, confidence and a power within a face vehemently.
